The Hinsdale Historical Society had a busy February, hosting a children’s Vintage Valentine program at the Hinsdale History Museum on Saturday, Feb. 4. Then, just a few weeks later, we had nearly 30 children for the third annual Lunch with the Lincolns program on Saturday, Feb. 25. President Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, talked about what life was like for them in the mid-19th century and how they found living in White House. Children then enjoyed a pizza lunch, made a craft and had an opportunity for photos with the Lincolns. This is always a popular event, which fills up quickly.
The Society’s first every Trivia Night Fundraiser, held in January, featured eight tables of 10 in Immanuel Hall. While the event raised money for the Hinsdale Historical Society, it was also a lot of fun. Each table had a different theme relating to history—one table was from the 1980s, one was sport teams, one was “USA” —and the group as a whole had a great time. Besides lots of trivia talk, there was abundant laughter and merriment. Thank you to event chairs Sona Bansal and Joanna Gatzulis, all who volunteered and to Nothing Bundt Cakes, BB’s Baby Donuts and Kirsten’s Danish Bakery for donating the desserts.
