DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING ON MY HOUSE?

We might! While our Archives do not have a file on every house in Hinsdale, over the years, we have worked tirelessly to gather local real estate documents, newspaper clippings, photographs, permits, plats, and other records that may include information on your house.

If you contact us and give us an address, we can tell you relatively quickly what information we have, if we have any materials of interest, and what they might be.

Another place you can find information about the history of your house/the property that it sits on, is the DuPage County Clerk's Office or the Cook County Clerk’s Office if your home is in the most eastern part of Hinsdale.

WHAT IS THE HINSDALE HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S PLAQUE PROGRAM?

The Hinsdale Historical Society first introduced the historic plaque program in 1986 to highlight the rich history and architectural heritage of our village. The program is voluntary and is designed to publicly identify local historic structures and to congratulate owners’ efforts in preservation. Homes that are at least 90 years old are eligible.

The Hinsdale Historical Society's Archive has thousands of photographs, records, files, yearbooks, directories, and more. We offer research services for members and non-members. Those interested in a specific topic or what to order research services, document copies, or photograph copies, should email info@hinsdalehistory.org.

WHAT ARE THE RESEARCH AND COPY FEES?

Research on an Individual

Members: Free
Non-members: $5.00

Staff research by the hour (1 hour minimum)

Members: $20/hour for the first hour, $15/hour for additional hours
Non-members: $30/hour for the first hour, $20/hour for additional hours

Copies (black & white, letter sized)

Members and non-members: $0.25 cents per page

Document scans

Members: $3.00 per scan
Non-members: $5.00 per scan

Photo scans--personal use only

Members: $6.00 per image
Non-members: $10.00 per image

Copies of scans to CD disc: $5.00

Copies of scans to USB: $10.00
